We wanted to take a moment to share a little update on the Metlakatla Heritage Foundation.

Things are moving forward.

We are currently working through the paperwork and organizational process of establishing the Foundation and moving toward our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. At the same time, we are working on building our Board of Directors, developing the necessary bylaws and organizational documents, and putting the foundation we need in place for the work ahead.

There is a lot happening behind the scenes right now.

Our vision remains the same: to help preserve, protect, document, and share the history, culture, stories, photographs, traditions, and heritage of the Metlakatla community for generations to come.

We believe our history belongs to all of us—and that preserving it is something we can accomplish together.

There will be more to share in the coming weeks as the pieces continue to come together. We are taking our time to build this organization properly, thoughtfully, and with the community in mind.

The Metlakatla Heritage Foundation is taking shape.
