Life, Like Cheese, Gets Better When Shared
Today is National Cheese Day.

Now, I can’t say I had it circled on my calendar, but any day dedicated to cheese deserves at least a moment of appreciation.
Cheese is one of those remarkable foods that seems to have a personality all its own.
Some people are cheddar people—reliable, familiar, and comfortable. The kind of folks who show up when they say they will and never make things more complicated than they need to be.
Others are more like Swiss cheese. Full of holes, perhaps, but somehow still holding everything together.
Then there are the adventurous souls who lean toward blue cheese. A little bold. A little misunderstood. Not for everyone, but deeply appreciated by those who understand them.
Brie reminds me of people who appear soft and gentle on the surface, yet somehow manage to bring richness to every room they enter. Gouda sounds like something a pilot might accidentally say over the radio after a long day. Parmesan has spent years aging gracefully, becoming more valuable with time—a goal many of us can relate to.
The older I get, the more I realize life is a lot like a cheese board.
Some seasons are sharp and tangy. Others are smooth and comforting. There are moments that feel carefully crafted and moments that seem a little crumbly around the edges. Yet somehow, when viewed together, they create something worth sharing.
As I sat thinking about National Cheese Day today, I found myself smiling at how often the simple things bring the greatest joy.
A good conversation.
A favorite memory.
A quiet evening.
A meal shared with people you care about.
Life doesn’t always need grand adventures or major milestones to be meaningful. Sometimes it just needs a few good stories, a little laughter, and perhaps a slice of aged cheddar.
So wherever this day finds you, I hope you take a moment to enjoy something simple.
After all, in a world that often moves too fast, maybe we could all use a little more cheese.
Happy National Cheese Day.
Stay sharp.
